Hello hello, friends! This blog post is super special to me. Not only is it my last collaboration post with the Ottawa Valley Tourist Association (for now, who knows what the future holds), but it also focuses on one of my favourite things to do in the Ottawa Valley…hiking.

Hey friends! I feel like fall is the new summer in the sense that it is the busiest time of year. There are a bunch of wicked events taking One of my favourite annual fall events is the Petawawa Ramble. This isn’t just one day of events, but a series of events under the Ramble umbrella. I love how the whole Town of Petawawa really gets into it and every year it seems to expand.

Hello hello, friends! While I know I said that the next blog post would be a hiking wrap-up, it slipped my mind that the fall edition of the Madawaska Valley Studio Tour is coming up from September 30 - October 2, 2022. Fear not, the hiking wrap-up is still coming - I promise!

Hey friends, this is a special guest post! This post is written by my husband, Cameron. He recently went on an adventure to Long Point, Quebec on his Yamaha Teneré 700 adventure bike - by himself. At the end of each day, Cam wrote down a recap of his day so that he could share the experience with me. Now we are sharing that recap with all of you. Buckle up - it is about to get wild! The Township of Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards is one of those townships where I discover or see something new each and every time that I visit. In terms of census data, the Township of Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards has a population of 2,410 people (2021 Canadian Census) and occupies an area that is approximately 391 square kilometres. It includes the communities of Killaloe, Round Lake and Wilno. Needless to say, this sparsely populated township is an outdoor lover’s dream!

There is this transformation that happens to the Township of North Algona Wilberforce in the summer. I was once told that the normal population of the Township of North Algona Wilberforce is around 3,000 people. Whereas I was told that in the summer, the population can go up to 12,000 people. As a result, the township takes on a whole new life and soul in the summer. In the summer, the Township of North Algona Wilberforce definitely takes on a resort/cottage vibe, which I absolutely love! It is like everyone is on vacation and in a great mood!

This blog post is all about a township that is near and dear to my heart - the Township of Bonnechere Valley. I spend a great deal of time in the Township of Bonnechere Valley and I absolutely love it. From the beautiful outdoor spaces to the delicious restaurants, to many stops on the Madawaska Valley Studio Tour - there are lots to see and do in the Township of Bonnechere Valley. This is the second time that the Township of Bonnechere Valley has been profiled on Time in the Valley.

This blog post focuses on celebrating spring in the Town of Renfrew. Being able to prance around the Town of Renfrew recently really fed my soul. The sun was shining, it was warm out, and people were smiling - like I said, it really fed my soul. Dare I say, it also felt like a little piece of normal again, although, I do acknowledge that the pandemic is still ongoing.

Hello hello, friends! This may be an unpopular opinion, but I absolutely adore winter. I especially love winter in the Ottawa Valley. There are so many activities to do, it makes it hard not to love this season. In this blog post, we are focusing on the towns of Deep River, Laurentian Hills and the United Townships of Head, Clara and Maria. These townships are the furthest west and north sections of Renfrew County and are filled with such a bounty of nature. Hello hello, welcome to another jam-packed blog post that has been created in collaboration with the Ottawa Valley Tourist Association. Recently, I polled my audience on Instagram to see if people celebrated Valentine’s Day and if they did, who did they celebrate with (spouse/kids/friends). Close to 60% of respondents stated that they do celebrate, with the vast majority celebrating with their spouse/partner.

Hello hello, I hope you’re ready for another jammed-packed community itinerary because this one is definitely one of my favourites. Where are we headed with this community itinerary? We are pointing the spotlight at the Township of Greater Madawaska. To say that I’m obsessed about the Township of Greater Madawaska would be putting it mildly. There is a large variety of things to do and see. It has all the charm of a ski town without all the pomp and circumstance. I would also be remiss if I did not mention that the Province of Ontario has a “staycation tax credit” during the 2022 tax year. More information on that can be found here. Hey friends, It is one of the most wonderful and magical times of the year – the holiday season! From Hanukkah to Kwanza to Christmas, what is not to love?! For this blog post, the Ottawa Valley Tourist Association and I decided to feature some of the festive activities that are taking place this December in the Ottawa Valley. This blog will feature most of our communities in the Valley, so buckle up and prepare to have your stockings blown off with all the information jam-packed into this blog post.

Hi friends, next up in our Ottawa Valley community itineraries, in collaboration with the Ottawa Valley Tourist Association, is the Township of McNab/Braeside and Arnprior. I had a lot of fun venturing around and exploring when I was doing research for this itinerary. I made a point of taking back roads in the name of exploration. Without further adieu, I present beautiful adventures with massive white pines in the Township of McNab/Braeside and the Town of Arnprior.

Hello friends! Here is the second edition of the Ottawa Valley community itineraries curated by Time in the Valley in collaboration with the Ottawa Valley Tourist Association. This blog post itinerary will focus on the townships of Madawaska Valley, Bonnechere Valley, North Algona Wilberforce, and Killaloe-Hagarty-Richards Township.

I have said it before and I will say it again, the Ottawa Valley is an amazing place with so many things to do and see. This is why I am working with the Ottawa Valley Tourist Association to bring to the world itineraries that profile each of the townships within the Ottawa Valley. To say I am excited about this project is an understatement. The first of the beautiful townships to be showcased are Whitewater Region, Admaston/Bromley and Horton Townships.

Recently, my husband and I took a grand tour of sorts around Northern Ontario on my husband’s adventure bike, a Yamaha Tenere 700. This trip is super exciting because we had not had a vacation outside of the Ottawa Valley since 2019. Before we set out on our trip, we outlined an initial plan with a rough idea of distances that we wanted to tackle each day.

Hey friends! I am trying to make more of an effort to write more blog posts for Time in the Valley. I have no excuse for the lack of posts in recent months. (Side note, have you seen the blog post that I wrote about the Pop-Up Container Market in Petawawa?). I have been focusing more on creating quality content for the Time in the Valley Instagram account. Regardless, I am making a commitment to you, a member of the Time in the Valley community, that there will be more blog posts coming to you this summer.

The five containers at the pop-up container market can be rented for a week at a time and up to three weeks throughout the market season. Some vendors have signed up for multiple weeks, but there will be a variety of vendors week after week. Definitely something for everyone! Located at the Kin Hut at the front parking lot of the Petawawa Civic Centre (beside the baseball diamond and McGuire’s Doughnuts food truck – you can’t miss it). The pop-up container market is eligible for vendor use from Tuesday to Sunday with most vendors open from 10:00 until 17:00 (some vendors may close earlier depending on the day and weather). Check out the social media posts each week to see who will be “Popping Up!”

Hey friends! It has been a hot minute since I have a new blog post. My goal for 2021, is to show up consistently for you all with quality content. Easy peasy right?! Pre-pandemic I would post about events and things to do in addition to local businesses. Since the pandemic, I have had to go back to the drawing board a bit. This got me thinking that it may be fun to share some of the activities I am doing during the pandemic. A short while ago I posted in my Instagram stories that I was in the process of making some homemade bacon. I received lots of messages asking what was my method, which is what inspired me to write this post.
